Scare on the Square & Trunk or Treat will be held on October 31 at the Sabine County Courthouse lawn in Hemphill.
- October 31, from 6-8 PM
- Costume Contest
-for 6 years and under at 6:15 PM;
-for 7 years to 12 years at 6:45 PM. - Also a trophy for the BEST Trunk or Treat vehicle and another for the BEST Volunteer Costume. These are revolving Trophies that are passed on each year.
- First United Methodist Church will supply Popcorn & Cotton Candy for free. The Scare on the Square Committee will provide free water and juice. The Church of Jesus Christ LDS will be providing free Hot Dogs.
- Barking Mad Animal Rescue will be selling Coffee, Hot Chocolate and Canned Pop as a fundraiser.
The founders of this family fun event, Kim & Janna, say they “started this event to create the fun of Halloween that they remembered as children”, . Kim said, “the carnivals with games were so much fun”. Janna remembers “living in a large neighbor in Michigan where it was safe to walk to 50 different places to get candy. Sometimes the people in the homes would make you sing a song or tell a joke for the candy. It was always FUN”.
